Brickyard Filmworks & Marbling Fine Arts
BRICKYARD FILMWORKS of Boston specializes in visual effects and computer-generated imagery for feature films. The bi-coastal firm was founded in 2008 by the originators of Brickyard VFX, a ten year-old commercial visual effects studio with offices in Boston, Ma. and Santa Monica, California. Brickyard’s first class reputation as a visual effects producer is now expanding into original production through their partnership on “Hypergraphia” with Lorenzo DeStefano’s Productions A-Propos. The deep experience that Brickyard principals Dave Waller, Geoff McAuliffe and Michael McCarthy bring to the short & feature projects extends not only to the visual effects component but to the role of key production partner and on-the-ground representative of “Hypergraphia” in Massachusetts, where significant State production incentives and funding opportunities are available to a locally-produced and set production like ours.
Marbling Fine Arts (www.marbling.net), with headquarters in Tokyo and a U.S. office on Boston, has been in business for more than 37 years. Veteran model and miniature makers for nearly all of the Godzilla movies, along with work on Akira Kurosawa’s “DREAMS”, Quentin Tarantino’s “KILL BILL”, and hundreds of other films and commercials, they currently control more than 90% of the share of the miniature effects business in Japan. Their work has long been recognized as among the best in the world, with a nomination for “Outstanding Models/Miniatures in a Motion Picture” by the Visual Effects Society in Los Angeles.
President of Marbling Fine Arts, Norihiko Iwasaki, and his team of master craftspeople, understand the benefits of digital effects while dedicated to retaining the art of handmade miniatures. They combine rare, old-world skills with the best of computer-generated imagery. Their goal – to continue on the leading edge of visual effects for film through the creation of world-class models & miniatures, production design, props, weapons, armor, vehicles, airplanes, ships, public art and epic commercial and museum installations & displays.
